Hi, I am @ldncarz an experienced London carspotter and have been for well over 2 years, meaning I know all the locations and cars, owners and other carspotters. I would love to help out by giving insight into carspotting in London for all you guys.
I also just want to say please respect the owners and the general public, do not get too close to the car, get in peoples clips or photos and just don’t be a jerk.
The best season to go spotting is of course Summer, the best time is 3-8 but I do not know the owner’s schedule and when they will come out, the best days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday but stuff will be out all the time. It is all about luck and can be very random therefore making it hard to predict.
Let’s start with some tips; stay hydrated, constantly check for cars because once a 918 silently went past me, be aware of your surroundings (I mean isn’t it obvious) because of phone snatchers, check Instagram stories (@not.spotting, @carspotting_ mrgold, @stolemykeys,
@tomspotz and live upload accounts and group chats but if you want to really ‘spot’ I wouldn’t do this, try and make a friend or someone to spot with and lastly don’t expect to have a car to yourself.
My 3 best spots in London; the 1/1 Koenigsegg Jesko Attack
‘Vimana’ , the 1/1 Koenigsegg Agera S ‘Goblin’ and the 1/1 Bugatti Chiron Supersport ‘La
Diamant Noir’.
Mayfair: The number one area for spotting in London without a doubt would be Mayfair, where old money and wealth is silent with Rolls-Royce’s and Bentley’s going past every minute. Mount Street, a street that runs through Mayfair also has supercars parked up on it and if you are lucky enough maybe run into a hypercar (I have seen a fair few Bugatti’s, Koenigsegg’s and Pagani’s running through there) and it is lined with luxury shops.
It also has some expensive restaurants such as a restaurant called Scott’s which is frequented by celebrities such as Adam Sandler and John Cena which can bring some sweet whips into town. At the end of Mount Street there is a 5 star hotel called The Connaught where I have seen cars such as a McLaren Elva, Aston Martin V12 Speedster, Ferrari F80 and a lot more.
Of course you should check the dealerships like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Bugatti. (you will have to peek through the window and you might just see one)
There is a few other spots in Mayfair definitely worth checking out, mostly hotels which I am going to list now;
The Dorchester Hotel: If you are reading this now there is currently a Pagani Huayra Pacchetto Tempesta owned by a Saudi prince and sheikh with a “1” plate.
The Chancery Rosewood: They don’t let people park outside anymore but last Christmas there was a pair of two Bugatti Chirons and G63 6x6 from Saudi Arabia and I’ve seen an AM Valhalla.
The Four Seasons Hotel and The Intercontinental Hotel: Both are right next to each other, the other week I saw a GMA T.50 and there has been a Gemballa Mirage GT and Aston Martin V12 Speedster.
London Hilton on Park Lane: Yes, it is quite a stupid name but I’ve personally seen a nice
Chiron parked outside with a whole group of supercars from all around the world, but it was for an event.
The Grosvenor House: JW Marriott, I’ve seen a McLaren Elva and Mercedes-Benz AMG ONE staying here once and sometimes they do not let you take pictures of the cars.
The 34 Mayfair: A super fancy restaurant where I have seen TOMI’s Porsche 918 Spyder and some other stuff have been parked here such as a Koenigsegg One:1 Concept owned by Carina Lima.
Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill/Lucky Cat: A restaurant complex owned by world famous chef Gordon Ramsay, I’ve seen his Aston Martin Valhalla here and people have seen his SP3, Valiant and 812 Comp.
P7 AutoWorks: They wrap and detail cars, also Grosvenor Hill which is right next to it where they occasionally do photo shoots with cars, and where they load and unload cars on trailers from dealerships.
Knightsbridge: The second best area in London for carspotting, Knightsbridge famous for department store Harrod’s and many fancy restaurants around town. You may see a casual 812 Competizione fly through the tunnel, or maybe a Jesko parked outside Harrod’s. Personally I do not come much but if there is something about or I want to get my steps in it is the place for me to go to.
Time for me to share some locations in Knightsbridge where I have spotted some beauties, some are musts which I have kindly highlighted in bold detail and some are hit or miss.
● Brompton Road: Thoroughfare right in the heart of Knightsbridge, opposite Harrod’s. Countless Supercars almost every 2 minutes, just the traffic light takes a while.
● Harrod’s: World famous department store frequented by 15 million people a year and
100,000 in a day. It draws in a lot of money, many Arab Supercars can be seen parked outside.
● The Peninsula: I have seen a Ferrari Monza SP2 and Aston Martin Valkyrie here and many hypercars have stayed here but let’s just say good luck getting in, it is a private property.
● Binghatti: Strangely enough as it is, it is a property developer with a Bugatti Chiron from Dubai and more on display, you can go inside but also see it from outside, open on weekdays.
● The Berkeley: Where I have seen a Bugatti Chiron 110 Ans from Saudi Arabia and a
Ford GT, it is also worth checking behind the hotel where I have seen a Porsche 918
Spyder.
● The Emory: There has been a Ferrari 599 GTO parked here and I’ve seen an Aston
Martin Valiant being loaded up onto the back of a trailer here but usually there is nothing here.
● The Mandarin Oriental: A Porsche Singer and Bugatti Veyron Supersport have all been spotted here recently although cars are not really allowed to park outside, only for a little while.
● The Park Tower Knightsbridge: Has a casino, fancy restaurant and a luxury hotel, personally I haven’t seen anything here but many Hypercars have been seen here.
● The Jumeirah Carlton Tower: Has its own private underground parking where a GMA
T.50 has been recently spotted and a Lamborghini Sian has been parked here.
● The Wellesley: Not much there these days but sometimes you get Aventador’s still and a Lexus LFA and Pagani Zonda Cinque were spotted here maybe about a year or 2 ago.
● The Lanesborough: Right next door to The Wellesley, rich guests often drop their cars off outside for the valet to park underground such as a Revuelto and 812, not much really.
● The Knightsbridge Apartments/BVLGARI hotel: I have seen a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta here and a Lamborghini Centenario Roadster from Dubai was spotted here earlier last year.
● The Alfred Tennyson: Just a pub in Knightsbridge with supercars and the occasional hypercar parked outside, it is near a private collection which includes some lovely cars.
● Sloane Street: A major road which is pretty long, spanning from Sloane Square all the way up to Knightsbridge, I have seen a black Porsche 918 Spyder cruising down it before.
● Bugatti shop: Not a showroom, has no cars just merchandise I think but over the years a few bugs have been seen outside of the shop, not for years though and it is probably closed.
Now for the places which are good but can be hit or miss, sometimes they are amazing but mostly dead. Areas like Marylebone, Chelsea, Fulham, Belgravia, Pimlico, Victoria and Kensington.
I would go with saying that Belgravia and Marylebone are the pick of the bunch, I have seen a SLR roll through the quiet streets of Belgravia and seen so many amazing cars in Marylebone such as Bugatti’s, Koenigsegg’s and a lot more.
There is a pub called The Cavendish Marylebone where many of a collectors cars have been spotted over the years, I have seen a yellow LaFerrari Aperta here and others include F12 TDF, 812 Comp Aperta, LaFerrari and Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster.
It is also worth checking out the underground parking garages which are easy to find just search on Google maps ‘Mayfair car park’ ‘Knightsbridge car park’ ‘Marylebone car park’ just be careful of security guards and moving cars, also try to be quick.
There are also some events and meets in London such as Cars & Chai, SW1 Social, Rolling Slow Media, Cars on the Green, Southside Hustle, Cars on the Common, Bloomsbury Classic Car Show, London Concours, Salon Prive, Drivers & Dim Sum, Duke of London, RUK
Technology, Cafe Cervino, Starr Luxury Cars, Hampton Court and Inner Circle Drivers Club.
If you need lunch while spotting I would suggest Slim Chickens, the petrol station and the end of Mount Street, post office in Mayfair and McDonald’s for a pretty cheap price.
Lastly, I just wanted to thank you all if you got this far and for your support on this project that I decided to do and I also wanted to thank AVG carspotter.
